Managerial skills available to a player character.
Managerial skills
Shrewd observer: The skill at knowledgeable observations about
current or past events in The City and its criminal underground, the
surrounding world, but also inside one’s own fellowship or guild. This
skill also involves being a good judge of character, and being able to
spot a potential spy in the midst of a fellowship or guild.
Recruitment: The skill of recruiting new members into a
fellowship or guild. Particularly useful for the Recruiter and Dogsbody professions.
Fair pay: The skill for accounting, budgeting, dispensing of pay
and share-of-loot, for either a fellowship or a guild. The higher this
skill, the more stable the trust of fellowship or guild members in one’s
accounting, especially if it can be compared with the contents of the
actual accounting records. In the case of freelancer characters, the
higher this skill, the greater the potential trust of any helpers the
freelancer hired temporarily, for an individual job.
Morale: The skill for keeping up the morale and cohesion of a
fellowship or guild, to ensure that individual members can get along
despite possible tension, and that teamwork is guaranteed even during
more trying and insecure times. Less useful for a freelancer character,
but can still be used to keep the morale of an individual character
higher, or potentially increase the team morale of a temporarily hired
helper.
Guile: A skill at springing a trap for those who’d create plans
to infiltrate and attack a fellowship or guild’s compounds and
safehouses, or the domicile of a freelancer. This skill is best used
while coordinating several people in a fellowship or guild to catch a
traitor, spy or other infiltrator.
Records: Even a fellowship or guild of thieves needs to keep some
records for later use. Part of the skill is not only writing, reading
and sorting past records, from incomes and expenses to gathered intel
and various news and useful factual books, but also knowing how and
where to hide and conceal the existing records, to avoid them being
accessible to non-trusted eyes.
Resupply: The regular and necessary procurement of supplies and
materiel for the needs of a freelancer, fellowship or guild. Whether
it’s staple foods and drinks, clothing and furniture, building materials
and fuel, tools and spare parts, or weaponry and ammunition, the
resupply skill is very useful while acquiring supplies without being
caught or found out.
These are still a work in progress. Guile strikes me as a bit underdefined, but you can work out the details later.
